Hermes Rentals

Who can rent a car from Hermes?

Everyone from 20 to 75 years old, with a driving license issued at least 12 months before rental start.

What documents are required for a car rental?

During pickup driver must hold an ID card or passport, a European driving license issued at least 12 months before.

What is included in my booking?

All bookings include basic insurance (CDW), unlimited kilometers and 24-hours road assistance.

What is the minimum and maximum duration of car rental?

Minimum rental charge is 1 day (24 hours). You can rent a car even for an hour but with a daily price.

What kind of cars can I rent?

We offer you a wide range of modern cars in every category. You can choose between manual or automatic transition, petrol or diesel engine and minivans up to 9 seats.

Can I return the car in a different city from the one that received it (One-Way)?

One-Way rentals are available only between specific Hermes stations and come with additional cost.

Where else can I get the car, outside Hermes offices?

We can deliver/collect a car on specific locations except our offices or airports like hotels, ports, railway stations etc. This service has an extra cost.

Can I travel outside Greece?

No, our cars are not allowed to be driven outside the Greek borders.
Can I travel outside Zakynthos (ex. Olympia, Cephalonia, etc.)?
A written permission is needed from Hermes Rentals in order to use a Ferry Boat with a rented vehicle from the company. In case of violation to this rule, any insurance signed with Hermes stops to be in effect. Please note that there may an extra charge for getting any vehicle outside the island with a Ferry.

Can I drive off road?

All our rental cars are allowed to be driven on paved roads. Damages that may be caused from off road driving (wheels, tires, underbody) are not covered by the insurance.

Who else can drive the rented car?

All cars can be driven by up to 2 authorized drivers. A second driver may be declared during booking or upon pick up. The additional driver service may have an extra charge upon request.

How can I book a car for today?

Yes you can either by our online reservation system or phone (depending on availability).

Can I book a car with a baby seat?

Yes, you can choose a baby seat during your online reservation. There are available two types of seats depending on your child’s weight: from 0-18kg (up to 4 years old) or 18-36kg (over 4 years old). All baby seats are available with an extra cost per day. The installation is made by the renter.

What insurance coverage do I have with the rental?

All our cars include a basic insurance coverage (CDW) with excess amount and third party insurance that covers: a) death or injuries for third parties up to 1.220.000€, b) material damages of third parties up to 1.220.000€ (excluding the car od DRIVE).

Can I rent a car with zero liability amount?

Zero or limited liability amount for car damage. Liability amount is reduced to 0€ and the extra charge per category is as follows:

  • A, B: 7€/day
  • C, D, E, O: 8€/day
  • K, F, G, H: 9€/day
  • I, J, L, M: 12€/day

What is not included in my booking?

The basic insurance coverage (C.D.W) do not include:

  • damages on wheels and tires
  • broken windows (windscreen and side windows)
  • damages on the under part of the car
  • damages on mechanical parts caused by bas usage
  • refueling errors
  • loss or damage of car key
  • loss or damage of boot cover
  • damages in the interior
  • special cleaning in case the vehicle is returned extremely dirty inside
  • administrative expenses in case of an accident
  • administrative expenses for any traffic violations (traffic violations are paid separately)

There is no insurance coverage if the tenant drives under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

What if I already have insurance from my credit or a third party?

In case you have additional insurance coverage from your credit card, a third party insurance company or your travel agency you should be aware that we do not assume in any way your compensation. Any damage or accident should be paid according to the liability amounts per car group and then you can claim for a refund from your insurance. If you wish not to pay for accidents or damages, you must buy an addition insurance coverage directly from HERMES.

What hours can I collect or return a rental vehicle?

All our offices are open from 08:30 to 21:00. You can collect or return a vehicle beyond our operating hours with an extra charge of €25.

How can I pay for my booking?

To complete your reservation you must pay by credit card, cash or bank transfer.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you would like to cancel a reservation with Hermes Rentals, we would kindly ask you to notify us at least 3 days before pick-up date.
