Terms and Conditions

Minimum rental period is 1 day (24h) with acceptable length delay of 1/2 hour. Any further delay is charged as an extra day.

Minimum age 20 years and maximum 75 years for all car groups. Minimum age 20 years and maximum 75 years for all bike and quad groups. Driving license must be issued at least 1 year before rental start. Driver must hold a valid European (for EU countries) or International (for countries that don’t belong to EU) driving license.

Delivery and collection of any vehicle at Hermes Rentals offices, Airport and Kalamaki resort are free of charge.
Delivery and collection of any vehicle in other locations of Zakynthos island have an extra charge and we will let you know the exact amount after your reservation. Delivery and collection of any vehicle except for office working hours (07:30 – 22:00) have an extra charge of:

• 20€  during April, May and October
• 30€ during June, July, August and September.

CARS
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI): Covers the driver  for death, total or partial disability and for hospital expenses.
Third party insurance covers: a. Death and injury of third party up to 1.220.000€, b. Material damages to third parties up to 1.220.000€ – excluding the car of Hermes Rentals.
Full Insurance with C.D.W: Limits the renter’s responsibility for car damage (for drivers over 24 years old): to 700€ for car groups A1, A2, B1; to 800€ for car groups B2, C, D, E1, E2, O;  to 1000€ for car groups J, F, G, N; to 1200€ for car groups H1, H2; to 2500€ for car groups E3, I, H3; to 3000€ for car group L. For young drivers limits the renter’s responsibility for car damage is 1500-2500 depend on age and experience.

We provide Super Full Insurance with possibility to  reduce excess for car damage to 0€ for Group A1, A2,B,C,O,J,G,H; to 600€ for Group D, N, E1,E2,H2, G1, G3; to 800€ for Group  E3, E4, I, H3; to 1200€ for Group L. Not available for young drivers.

Please note that any key loss is not included in the Insurance. Insurance does not cover damages on the bottom part of car (underbody), wheels, tires, mirrors, glasses, roof of convertible cars and the interior.

Young drivers insurance: Drivers under 25 pay an additional insurance of 10 euros per a day.

Senior drivers insurance: Drivers over 70 pay an additional insurance of 10 euros per a day, drivers over 75 pay an additional insurance of 15 euros per a day.

BIKES AND QUADS 

Third party insurance covers: a. Death and injury of third party up to 1.220.000€, b. Material damages to third parties up to 1.220.000€. – excluding the car of Hermes Rentals. 4 euros per a day

Full Insurance with C.D.W can be added for extra charge under request in our office.

The insurance coverage (cars, bikes and quads) is not valid:

• when transporting the vehicle by ferry
• if the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• for damages caused by driving on unpaved roads
• for damage on the bottom part of car (underbody), the wheels, tires, the interior and the top of convertible cars
• for loss of personal belongings
• for accidents caused by a driver not declared in the lease contract
• for loss or damage of the vehicle key

The cost of damage or loss of the car is paid even if the tenant is insured by a credit card or other insurance company. In this case, the tenant is obliged to pay the entire vehicle repair or replacement costs and then ask for a refund from the credit card or another insurance provider.

In a car rental only the driver is covered by all above insurances. If other drivers are going to drive the rented vehicle they must be declared in the lease contract at the start of the rental period. Required documents are identity card or passport and a valid driving license. The additional driver service is upon request.

All cars they should be returned with the same quantity of fuel in the tank as on delivery.

A written permission is needed from Hermes Rentals in order to use a Ferry Boat with a rented car from the company. In case of violation to this rule, any insurance signed with Hermes stops to be in effect. Please note that there may an extra charge for getting any vehicle outside the island with a Ferry.

The cars are not allowed to be used for: Driving outside the Greek borders, driving off-road, carrying heavy objects or bad use in general. Vehicles returned in bad condition and with extremely dirty interior (e.g food stains, coffee, sea salt, etc.) will be charged for special cleaning with extra cost.

In case of any accident, mechanical damage or stick to any surface or circumstance, the renter must stop moving the vehicle and call directly to Hermes Rentals at +30 26950 23284.

The renter assumes full responsibility for traffic violations and pays the respective fines. In case that the renter will not pay the fine, Hermes Rentals will charge the fine cost plus administrative expenses.

The rent can be paid by credit card, debit card (Visa, Master Card), by cash or bank transfer.

Booking cancellation

If you would like to cancel a reservation with Hermes Rentals, we would kindly ask you to notify us at least 3 days before pick-up date.

HERMES RENTALS reserves the right to withhold a guarantee (for bookings at the airport office) in form of a credit card, Euro cash or debit card  which will be returned to the renter, after expiring of the rental period. The amount for the guarantee is depending on the car category.

During receipt of the vehicle a rental agreement is signed and contains the above terms and conditions.
